Feedback From Short Film

When you screened the rough cut version of your video to the class what areas of the video did you still want to complete/ improve and why?
As a group
  • We still needed to complete a title for our film as we did not add one in yet or think of a title that we could use.
  • We still needed to add credits so people watching the film knows the roles of who did what and also to give recognition to people outside our group for helping us with the short film.
  • We needed to improve the lighting of some shots as inside the cargo container scenes are very dark, which we did not notice when we were filming as on the camera it was a lot lighter and darkness that was shown on the camera gave off a sinisterly effect.
  • We still need to think of different types of music we could use to put into the short film as we did not feel like the running scenes were as creepy as the scenes in the cargo.
What positive feedback did you get from the audience?
  • They like that we included a news cast which warns people to what is happening in the area.
  • They liked the music we used at the beginning as they were aware that the music being played is what Shorai was listening to when she was jogging through the forest.
What were the suggested areas to improve on from the audience?
  • Even though some people were aware that the music at the beginning was what Shorai was listening to, some people were not aware and they want it to be more clearer that it is something Shorai is listening to rather than random background noise.
  • They suggested to improve the lighting in the cargo container so it is easier to view what is happening within the cargo container.
  • To shorten the noise of the dragging of the pole as the sound goes on for to long in a confined space.
  • To change the words used in the radio broadcast to make it clearer about what is happening in the area.
Did you agree with all the feedback received and if not why not?
  • I do agree with a lot of feedback in that out cargo scenes are very dark and hard to see what is happening. I did not agree about the changing of the choice of radio music as these are the types of music which people in our target audience listen to, but i did agree that the music was to heavy thus why we are trying to get the music to sound more like it is a radio then it generally being really loud.
What points were you able to address and how?
  • We were not able to re-shoot as this would of been very time consuming and if were to re-shoot inside the cargo to try and get extra footage and get some footage lighter. There would be problems as it is really hard to get items in and out of it due to the equipment being very heavy and the cargo not touching the ground for about cm.
  • We were able to change a lot of the lighting inside the cargo but it did turn it a little bit grainy due to the ISO levels.
  • We changed the music at the beginning making it sound like a radian station rather than film music. By doing this we were than able to add music to cause tension.
Were there points you were unable to address? Why could you not make these changes?
  • We could not re-film due to timing and the conditions of the cargo container (emptying it). So we were able to get targets and show that we are working for the same boss.
  • We were unable to lighten every single part of film in the cargo due to the graininess.
